Sysco unveils $500M AI-powered efficiency plan, raises mid-term growth targets

London-based software firm CloudNC has secured $20 million in new investment to bolster its AI-driven precision manufacturing solutions. Nimble Ventures spearheads the funding round, with support from Calculus Venture Capital, Entrepreneur First, and LM Ventures, a venture capital arm of Lockheed Martin. The investment will fuel CloudNC's growth, allowing the company to enhance its CAM Assist software and expand its market presence.

CAM Assist, CloudNC's flagship product, utilizes AI to streamline the creation of CNC machining strategies and toolpaths, significantly reducing the time required to transition from design to production. This technology empowers machine shops to accelerate their production processes, enhance efficiency and consistency, and optimize the utilization of their existing expertise.

The software is currently utilized by over 1,000 machine shops worldwide, with a notable presence in the United States. The funding will also aid CloudNC in penetrating new markets and fostering further adoption among customers. CEO and co-founder Theo Saville emphasized the industry-wide pressure on machine shops to expedite quoting and programming while maintaining productivity.

He expressed confidence that this investment will enable CloudNC to concentrate on refining CAM Assist and venturing into additional markets with new AI-driven solutions.

John Burbank, founder of Nimble Ventures, highlighted the potential of CloudNC's automation in CNC manufacturing to catalyze the resurgence of domestic production and the global creation of essential components. The funding comes at a crucial juncture as CloudNC transitions from early adoption of CAM Assist to broader commercial scale.

The company has already secured contracts with prominent clients such as Lockheed Martin and Major Tool and Machine, and will allocate the investment to bolster its go-to-market operations, including expanding its commercial footprint, enhancing customer support, and fortifying partnerships in rapidly expanding markets.

Looking ahead, CloudNC is developing a new product called Quote Agent, which will be introduced later in 2026. This tool will leverage AI to streamline the quoting and estimation process, enabling manufacturers to respond to customer inquiries more swiftly and consistently, minimize administrative burden, and bolster confidence in early-stage job assessments.

Additionally, CloudNC is actively collaborating with Knox Systems to attain FedRAMP certification for CAM Assist, facilitating its adoption by US government agencies, defense contractors, and other organizations with stringent security and compliance requirements for sensitive manufacturing applications.
