‘South Park’ changes name to 'South America' in sly dig at Trump

LOS ANGELES, September 9 — In a pointed jab at President Donald Trump's attempts to rename geographical locations, the animated television show South Park announced it is changing its name to "South America." The show's creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, made the announcement via their official X account, expressing inspiration from the patriotism displayed by tech giants Apple and Google.

These companies recently modified how certain bodies of water are labeled for American users of their maps, in response to Trump's rebranding efforts. The creators also took aim at Paramount, the show's parent company, owned by David Ellison's Skydance Corporation, despite a reported $1.5 billion acquisition last year. The announcement read, "We especially want to thank our parent company Paramount — a Skydance Capitulation."

Known for its crude language and satire of social issues, South Park has consistently lampooned Trump since his return to office, depicting him as being in an unhappy marriage with Satan, while a character named JD Vance plots to evict the devil from their relationship.
