Shots fired at Ammy Virk-linked car after Canada concert

Abbotsford, British Columbia saw a vehicle linked to a concert convoy targeted by gunfire following a performance by Punjabi singer Ammy Virk at the Rogers Forum on September 5. The Abbotsford Police Department reported the incident occurring shortly after 11 pm in the 2500-block of McCallum Road, where a dark-colored SUV opened fire on a vehicle in the convoy. Fortunately, no one was injured in the shooting.

Police stated the attack appeared to be targeted, but have not identified the perpetrators or their motives. Shortly after the shooting, another incident was reported in the 2400-block of Sunnyside Place, where an SUV caught fire. Investigators are currently exploring potential connections between the two events.

Initially, various Indian and Canadian media outlets reported that about seven shots were fired and that the targeted vehicle belonged to Virk's concert convoy. However, police have not publicly confirmed that Ammy Virk was present in the vehicle. His father, Kuljit Singh, later reassured the public that his son was safe and clarified that the shooting was not directed at his son's vehicle. Rather, it was believed to be related to individuals involved in organizing the concert, according to The Tribune.

The Major Crime Unit is leading the investigation and is seeking witnesses and dashcam footage. The incident has prompted an emotional response from Virk's family, who are currently residing in Dubai. They expressed their gratitude for the efforts of the authorities and stated that they are working tirelessly, as reported by IANS.
