Sharjah to launch first Jashe and Sahnah Festival in Kalba later this month

Sharjah will host its first Jashe and Sahnah Festival in Kalba from September 24 to 27, showcasing traditional coastal food practices and maritime heritage. Organized by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) in partnership with Kalba City Municipality, the four-day event will bring together government agencies, fishing businesses, and local families.

Visitors can expect to see sun-dried fish (Jashe) and a condiment made from dried fish and spices (Sahnah), along with traditional preparation methods. Six government and community entities, including the Sharjah Fish Resources Authority and Sharjah International Marine Sports Club, will participate. The festival aims to support coastal food industries rooted in Sharjah's Eastern Region, while promoting traditional practices as economically valuable products.

Events will include competitions, educational workshops, and sessions on marine sustainability, as well as fishing technologies and boats, all under one marketplace for productive families to sell their products.
