Sarawak salur RM100,000 kepada keluarga mangsa helikopter terhempas

Sarawak government announced it will provide a RM100,000 sum to the families of the victims involved in a crashed Air Doctor Service (FDS) helicopter near Long Lellang STOLport, Ulu Baram, on Wednesday. The remote location is approximately 929km from Kuching. The state will also fully cover the education fees of the surviving children of the victims through the Sarawak State Foundation, according to a statement via Sarawak's Public Communication Unit (Ukas).

Sarawak Premier Abang Johari Openg approved the aid as a gesture of the government's concern to alleviate the burden on the affected families and heirs, reflecting appreciation for the sacrifice made by the concerned officials who provided service to the people, especially the rural community. Malaysia Civil Aviation Authority (CAAM) confirmed on Wednesday that a BO-105 helicopter carrying five individuals, including the pilot, crashed near the Short Take-Off and Landing Airport (STOLport) at Long Lellang, Ulu Baram, about 929km from Kuching.

According to CAAM, they received information about the incident involving the helicopter that was conducting an FDS flight operation from the Civil Aviation Department at 3:58pm.
