Salam Mustapha withdraws from NPP National Organiser race

Salam Mustapha, a candidate for the National Organiser position within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has decided to withdraw from the race. In a letter sent on September 9, 2026, to the Chairman of the NPP National Officers Elections Committee, the reason for his decision was cited as "circumstances beyond my control." Mustapha acknowledged that it was a challenging decision, given the support and encouragement he had received from party members, delegates, colleagues and supporters nationwide.

Despite this, he emphasized that his withdrawal would not diminish his dedication to the NPP or its principles, and he assured his commitment to fostering unity, rebuilding and securing electoral success for the party. Mustapha expressed his ongoing support for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, hoping for him to become the next President of Ghana, and thanked his supporters for believing in his vision.

In a message to the party's supporters, he urged them to accept his decision and maintain unity for the greater good of the party. Mustapha wished the NPP and the other candidates well as they engaged in the internal electoral process, expressing confidence that the party's decisions would enhance its standing and pave the way for future electoral victories.

He concluded his statement by quoting Psalm 23, a verse that he referred to as his favorite in the Bible: "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want."
