S. Korean President Lee wraps up France visit, heads home

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung concluded his four-day state visit to France on Wednesday, departing Paris after a series of high-level meetings focused on strengthening cooperation in advanced industries and culture. The visit, which followed a reciprocal trip to Seoul in April, marked the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

President Lee co-chaired a summit event with French President Emmanuel Macron on Sunday, in the city of Saint-Paul-de-Vence, to discuss the future of the cinema industry. The event resulted in a joint investment initiative aimed at supporting the sector.

During the last two days of his visit, President Lee participated in a summit with Macron in Paris, concentrating on enhancing cooperation in the artificial intelligence (AI), defense, and nuclear energy sectors. This was followed by a state dinner hosted by Macron and his wife.

Lee's visit served as a response to Macron's earlier trip to South Korea, emphasizing the importance of bilateral ties as both countries commemorate the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year. President Lee is expected to return to South Korea on Thursday.
