Reid Detmers strikes out 9 as Angels beat Red Sox 6-1, ending Boston’s streak

Reid Detmers struck out nine batters and allowed just one hit over six shutout innings, leading the Los Angeles Angels to a 6-1 victory over the Boston Red Sox. Zach Neto contributed with a four-hit performance and a two-run homer, while Vaughn Grissom and Jose Siri added RBI singles, and two of those runs came on double-play grounders.

Detmers (5-8) secured his first win since a 1-0 decision on August 15, striking out at least once in every inning and allowing only three runners. The Angels out-hit Boston 15-4 and claimed just their third win in their last 15 games, preventing a potential season sweep and improving their record to 1-4 against the Red Sox. Despite hitting just one hit prior to Trevor Story's double in the seventh, Boston managed to score their first run of the game when Nick Sogard drove in Story with a single.

Neto extended the Angels' lead with a 24th homer to left-center in the eighth off Raymond Burgos. Patrick Sandoval went six innings for Boston, striking out seven but also allowing four runs on 10 hits and two walks, with his two-out walk to Mike Trout contributing to two runs scored when Grissom and Vaughn Grissom followed with consecutive singles to extend the Angels' lead to 3-1.
