Rangers will fight more after CAFCL draw – Ilechukwu

Enugu Rangers' head coach Fidelis Ilechukwu has urged his team to adopt a more aggressive approach after their 1-1 draw with AS Sobemap in the CAF Champions League first preliminary round tie. The Nigerian Premier Football League champions took the lead in the 23rd minute, but Sobemap equalized early in the second half, leaving the tie finely balanced ahead of the return leg in Lomé, Togo.

Ilechukwu stressed the importance of improving their attacking play in the second leg. "They are a good side defensively. We tried to look at entering the box and scoring goals to open them up, probably try to attack rather than sit back. We will also look at what we can do in Lomé for the second leg, come close to the box, and find those chances," he said.

Ilechukwu hinted that converting their aerial chances, which were key last season, might prove crucial. "Last season, we converted so many aerial chances, and I think we still have the quality, but maybe we were unlucky today," he added. Ilechukwu expressed confidence in Rangers' ability to advance in the competition, stating that a win, whether technically or tactically superior, is likely if they prepare well. However, a draw of 2-2 or more would be necessary for Rangers to progress to the next round.
