'Rahul mian' can't grasp Vande importance: Nitin Nabin

New Delhi: BJP leader Nitin Nabin accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of failing to appreciate the significance of the national song Vande Mataram, dubbing him "Rahul Mian". At a press conference in Delhi, Nabin claimed that Rahul cannot grasp the importance of the song as he was raised in a foreign culture and is unable to appreciate Indian culture.

The BJP president alleged that Congress is driven by appeasement of Muslim voters, a group that considers Vande Mataram idolatrous. Congress general secretary K C Venugopal had earlier expressed that the party would like its allies to honor the wisdom and judgment of freedom fighters and stand with them in singing only the version of the song adopted by them.

Nabin criticized Rahul for the Congress' stance on Vande Mataram, saying such a Congress must be brought to an end, condemning the party's gesture of embarrassment to the song that inspired freedom fighters to make the ultimate sacrifice.
