Punjab Announces New Facility for CM E-Bike Scheme Applicants

The Punjab Traffic Police has implemented special arrangements for students seeking to obtain driver's licenses under the provincial government's 100,000 electric bike scheme. Punjab Deputy Inspector General of Traffic Waqas Nazir instructed all licensing centers to provide facilities for students interested in the e-bike program.

According to the traffic police spokesperson, central training officers and deputy training officers will streamline the licensing process for eligible students. Students will be able to receive both a motorcycle learner's license and a regular driver's license on the same day. Applicants under the e-bike scheme will not have to wait the usual 42 days after obtaining a learner's license to apply for the regular license.

A valid driving license is necessary for students to take advantage of the e-bike scheme. The traffic police reported that over 222,000 motorcycle driving licenses were issued in the past eight days, and more than 6,500 juvenile driving permits have been issued this month. Waqas Nazir emphasized the importance of providing students with optimal facilities and safe-driving training to ensure they become confident and responsible riders.
