President Ruto hands over keys to fully sold out Chepalungu Boma Yangu Estate

President William Ruto has handed over the keys to 220 new homeowners at the Chepalungu Affordable Housing Project in Bomet County, Kenya. The government's commitment to expanding affordable housing and supporting urban growth was reaffirmed during the handover ceremony. President Ruto emphasized that providing homes closer to jobs and businesses while preserving agricultural land for food production is crucial.

With 99% of the units already sold, the project demonstrates high demand for affordable housing, aligning with the government's broader plan to address Kenya's housing deficit and promote well-planned urban development. The Chepalungu Affordable Housing Project consists of 220 units across nine residential blocks, including studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom homes catering to various income groups.

The project, starting in May 2023, is close to completion with essential infrastructure and utilities substantially operational. President Ruto promised to continue the affordable housing initiative with a second phase in Bomet in the coming months, aiming to provide more Kenyans with dignified homes and improve their quality of life.

The project, valued at approximately Ksh546.8 million, was implemented by the State Department for Housing and Urban Development and is part of a series of affordable housing projects across counties to tackle the housing shortage, enhance urban planning, and uplift the lives of Kenyan families.
