PowerSecure to provide backup power for Keel data center

Durham, North Carolina - PowerSecure, a Southern Company subsidiary, has entered into a partnership with Keel Infrastructure to provide a backup power solution for Keel's data center campus in Moses Lake, Washington. The agreement, announced in a press release, calls for PowerSecure to design and deliver a standby power system using their modular PowerBlocks.

These systems combine onsite generation, controls, and electrical infrastructure to support future capacity needs as the campus expands. The solution will also enable peak shaving to optimize energy use during high system load periods. PowerSecure President Jim Smith stated that this project highlights the company's ability to quickly deliver flexible, resilient energy solutions.

Keel Infrastructure Executive Vice President Alex Brammer emphasized that the system will provide the resiliency and operational continuity their customers depend on. The partnership was established earlier this year, with PowerSecure deploying an engineering and project delivery team to complete the project. PowerSecure has developed and installed over 2 gigawatts of microgrid capacity, while Keel Infrastructure develops and owns data centers and energy infrastructure for high-performance computing workloads, with a pipeline of 2.2 gigawatts in grid interconnections across Pennsylvania, Washington, and Quebec.
