American tennis player Jessica Pegula advanced to the US Open semi-finals for the third consecutive year on Tuesday. Pegula secured a hard-fought victory over fellow American Emma Navarro in an all-American match, coming back from a set down to win 3-6, 6-4, 6-3. The 32-year-old will face two-time defending champion Aryna Sabalenka in a rematch of last year's final after defeating Navarro for her fifth straight win, including a triumph at the Cincinnati Open earlier this month.

The encounter, dubbed the "Battle of the Billionaires" due to their affluent backgrounds, started more than an hour later than planned following Frances Tiafoe's lengthy win over Alex Michelsen in another all-American showdown. The match was characterized by mistakes and limited momentum, with both players committing multiple errors.

Pegula edged out Navarro in the opening set, as they both exchanged early breaks and each committed five double faults, including an additional break that allowed Navarro to take a lead in the set. Despite the errors, Pegula managed to even the match, finishing a lengthy rally with a precise forehand winner to secure a one-set-all lead.

Pegula capitalized on this momentum, taking control of the decider with an extra break before sealing the victory.
