Panvel Civic Body Intensifies Ganeshotsav Preparations With Safety Measures, Immersion Facilities And Emergency Plans

The Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) has intensified preparations for the upcoming Ganeshotsav, with civic departments instructed to ensure a safe and smooth celebration with adequate facilities for citizens. Mayor Nitin Patil chaired a meeting to assess departmental arrangements at Adya Krantiveer Vasudev Balwant Phadke Natyagruha, attended by officials from various departments, civic committees, and senior officials.

The construction department was ordered to repair potholes, remove obstructions, and address dangerous spots along routes used for idol processions and immersion. Major immersion routes will be cleaned and repaired, with cranes, rafts, and hydras deployed at Wadhale Lake, Wadghar Lake, and other immersion locations as needed.

Immersion ghats will be equipped with mandaps, barricades, tables, chairs, and sound systems, with the fire brigade preparing a round-the-clock emergency response plan. Traffic police are directed to prevent congestion in busy market areas, with additional personnel deployed during the festival. Security guards will be deployed at immersion ghats, and health and sanitation departments will undertake cleaning and arrange for waste collection.

Electrical safety measures will be ensured along routes, with generators arranged as required and obstructive wires removed. Overgrown branches along procession routes will be pruned, and regular water supply will be ensured across the civic jurisdiction. Dedicated sanitation workers will be assigned to each major Ganesh mandal, and a control room will be established to monitor arrangements. Adequate fire engines and equipment will be stationed at the ghats.
