Pakistan's Gull Feroza fined for showing dissent at Women's Asia Cup 2026

Dubai: Pakistan's participation in the Women's Asia Cup progressed to the semifinals after a dominant victory over Hong Kong. However, their wicketkeeper, Gull Feroza, faced disciplinary action. Throughout the tournament, Feroza has underperformed, failing to score runs in Pakistan's first two matches against Thailand and India.

In their game against Hong Kong, she finally batted but managed only three runs before being dismissed by an LBW decision. Unable to appeal due to the absence of Decision Review System (DRS), Feroza's reaction to the dismissal constituted dissent according to ICC regulations. She gestured towards her bat, suggesting an edge, which led to her demerit.

This was her second offense within a year, resulting in a 10% reduction of her match fee and a disciplinary record addition. Feroza's captain, Fatima Sana, also received a 10% match fee fine for her own disciplinary action against Shafali Verma during a match against India. Despite these setbacks, Pakistan's Women in Green aim to clinch their first Women's Asia Cup title, facing defending champions Sri Lanka in the semifinal on September 11 at 6:30 PM local time.
