Pakistan Wants to Attract Investments from New Zealand

Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb has urged for enhanced private-sector collaboration between Pakistan and New Zealand to draw in investment and broaden bilateral commerce. He stated this during a gathering with New Zealand High Commissioner-designate David Pine in Islamabad on Wednesday. The meeting centered on bilateral ties, trade, investment, and methods to fortify economic cooperation.

Pine praised Aurangzeb on Pakistan’s triumphant restoration to international capital markets post its latest Eurobond issuance and acknowledged strides in macroeconomic stability and economic reforms. He also updated Aurangzeb on New Zealand’s intention to intensify involvement with Pakistan and the broader South Asian region. Aurangzeb confirmed that Pakistan had achieved progress towards macroeconomic stability and that the government's attention was now pivoting towards investment, exports, employment generation, and sustainable economic growth.

He underscored that policy continuity, fiscal prudence, and structural reforms would remain pivotal to sustaining the nation's economic advancement. The two parties also deliberated on amplifying business-to-business (B2B) engagement between Pakistan and New Zealand. Pine stressed the necessity for enterprises in both nations to forge direct links and investigate areas of shared commercial relevance.

He also indicated New Zealand's interest in organizing more frequent bilateral trade dialogues to pinpoint and address trade-related concerns as they emerge.
