NOUN appoints acting bursar

The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has appointed Ramatu Ibrahim as Acting Bursar following the tragic murder of the university’s Bursar, Nasir Marafa. The appointment occurred during a three-day mourning period declared by the university in honor of Marafa, who was shot dead in Zamfara State. Marafa’s death was reported on Sunday, and Ibrahim’s appointment was announced by the university Registrar, Oladipo Ajayi, on Tuesday evening via a public notice on the university’s Facebook page.

Ibrahim, who previously served as Deputy Bursar, Treasury, was praised by the university for her extensive experience in financial operations and administrative processes within the Bursary Department. Her promotion to Acting Bursar is intended to maintain continuity, stability, and effective leadership in the university’s financial administration during a critical period.

Ibrahim’s appointment has been approved by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Uduma Oji Uduma, along with the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Isa Yuguda. The university expressed confidence in Ibrahim’s ability to handle her new responsibilities with professionalism, diligence, integrity, and a strong sense of institutional responsibility.

Marafa was described as a dedicated and dependable officer who served the institution with commitment, professionalism, and integrity.
