Newly Launched Suunto Run 2 Already Listed On SIRIM

Suunto has recently unveiled the Run 2, positioning it as the evolution of its original smartwatch. Despite the company yet to reveal local availability and pricing, the device has already earned SIRIM approval, suggesting its imminent arrival. The Finnish manufacturer's latest running-focused smartwatch maintains its predecessor's design but introduces several enhancements.

The Run 2 continues to feature a plastic body, measuring 11.7mm in thickness and weighing 35g. Its stainless steel bezel adds a touch of elegance. The watch's display is protected by Gorilla Glass and is an AMOLED panel measuring 1.32 inches, boasting a 466 x 466 pixel resolution. It offers a peak brightness of 2,000 nits, a significant improvement over the 600 nits of its predecessor.

Rated 5 ATM, the device is suitable for swimming, though not for diving. The hardware upgrades include a redesigned 12-channel wrist heart rate sensor and an upgraded GPS module, improving tracking during intense workouts and long efforts. Built-in storage varies between 4GB and 64GB depending on the model. Battery life is impressive, lasting up to ten days of regular use with training or about 24 hours in GPS mode.

A notable addition is the inclusion of offline maps, enabling navigation in areas with poor connectivity. The watch also offers real-time running insights, including EnergySense, which compares the user's efforts against their energy levels, and provides personalized training plans and 32 sports modes. In the US, the 4GB model costs US$349 (~RM1,420), while the 64GB variant is priced at US$399 (~RM1,624).

While the local pricing has not been announced, the SIRIM listing indicates that the watch will soon be available in our region. The listing's model number confirms it as the Run 2.
