The incident occurred near LP Junction in Nerul on September 7 when a government official, Tushar Tanaji Kadam (33), was allegedly assaulted by the driver and four accomplices. Kadam had boarded the autorickshaw and insisted on paying the metered fare, but the driver refused and threatened him instead.
The group then surrounded the RTO officer and assaulted him with kicks and punches, causing injuries to his eye and mouth and forcing him to hold their feet and apologize.
