‘Morning Joe’ Eviscerates Trump’s ‘Blasphemous’ 9/11 Claims: ‘As Low as It Gets’

On Wednesday, the hosts of MSN's "Morning Joe" criticized President Trump for his recent debunked claims about his actions during the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in New York City, describing his behavior as "as low as it gets." During a Tuesday speech, Trump claimed that he visited Lower Manhattan after the attacks and that two firefighters carried him to safety when they believed a nearby building was about to collapse.

However, "Morning Joe" co-host Willie Geist pointed out that Trump was actually in Midtown Manhattan during the attacks and had called into a local radio station for 45 minutes. He also remarked that his immediate reaction to the news was that "40 Wall Street" was the tallest building in Lower Manhattan. Co-host Mika Brzezinski stated that there is no evidence supporting Trump's account of being carried by firefighters on September 11.

"I can't imagine making up stuff about it. That is as low as it gets," she commented, adding that the remark was "needy." "Morning Joe" panelist and The Bulwark managing editor Sam Stein also joined Brzezinski and Geist in condemning the president over his 9/11 claims. He asked for photographic or video evidence to support Trump's statements, calling them "blasphemous" and on par with putting himself as the central character in the tragic event.

Stein emphasized that while Trump did visit the site afterward, there is no evidence to substantiate the embellishments, such as the building being on the verge of collapse and two firefighters lifting him to safety. "Morning Joe" co-anchor Jonathan Lemire echoed Stein's sentiments, stating that it is hard to believe that 25 years after the attacks, President Trump would try to make himself part of the story in a manner that was not true.
