Masked armed men flee with RM2.9m in cash, luxury goods from Ampang residence

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 9 — Police are ramping up their efforts to apprehend a group of masked and armed men who allegedly made off with an estimated RM2.91 million in cash and luxury items from a posh residence in Jalan Ampang. Wangsa Maju district police chief ACP Annas Sulaiman revealed that the crime allegedly took place between 2 pm and 3 pm at a dwelling in Pavilion Embassy.

The homeowner, a 28-year-old Chinese national, reported the incident to the police at 5.31 pm. Initial investigations have revealed that several masked assailants, clad in gloves and wielding knives, broke into the home. "The suspects absconded with cash, jewelry, and luxury watches, resulting in estimated losses of RM2.91 million," explained Annas.

"Additionally, they caused damage to the victim's mobile phone and appropriated his passport," he added in a statement. Annas stated that the victim did not sustain any serious injuries. The case is being probed under Sections 395 and 397 of the Penal Code.
