Manitoba father mourns daughter lost in multi-vehicle crash Sunday night

Winnipeg - The father of an 18-year-old Manitoba girl who died in a multi-vehicle crash is remembering his daughter Chloe Vermette as someone who lived life to the fullest and loved outdoor activities like quadding and camping. On Sunday, Vermette was with three other teenagers when their vehicle was struck at an intersection near Winnipeg Beach, approximately 80 kilometers north of Winnipeg.

The crash occurred as the car, traveling westbound on Highway 229, crossed Highway 8, according to police. A southbound van made the collision. Although a thunderstorm was passing through the area at the time, RCMP has not determined if weather played a role in the accident. Vermette's father, Steph Delaine, described his daughter as his best friend, always looking out for him.
