Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil, who also speaks for the government, said this information was provided by the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Wisma Putra) to the Council of Ministers. Nadma and Wisma Putra have informed the Council of Ministers that a list of assets that we can provide to assist the neighboring country has been communicated "... but so far, there has been no confirmation of any form of cooperation for using Malaysian assets to help put out the fires and other matters," he said at a post-cabinet press briefing today.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the Asean mechanism is already in place to address the border disputes issue, but it needs to be given serious attention by relevant ministers at the Asean level following the impact of the disputes on human life, especially children and infants.
