Lands Minister invites Shandong Gold to make Ghana its African expansion hub

Minister for Lands and Natural Resources Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah recently engaged with Shandong Gold Group, a Chinese mining company, in Jinan to discuss bolstering their cooperation in sustainable mining and broadening Shandong Gold's investment presence in Ghana. During the meeting, Armah-Kofi Buah emphasized Shandong Gold's commitment to environmentally friendly practices, such as large-scale land rehabilitation, extensive tree-planting efforts, and a strong focus on worker safety, which he deemed a prime example for Ghana to follow in its pursuit of responsible and eco-friendly resource extraction.

The Minister urged Shandong Gold to adopt advanced, environmentally-conscious technologies in their mining processes and specifically promoted the implementation of electric mining vehicles to minimize the ecological impact of their operations while safeguarding Ghana's natural resources. Armah-Kofi Buah expressed Ghana's willingness to foster a mutually beneficial partnership with Shandong Gold and formally invited the company to consider Ghana as a central hub for their future industrial expansion across Africa.

This meeting reflects the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources' ongoing endeavors to attract responsible investment and promote environmentally sustainable mining practices within the country.
