Malaysian authorities have arrested a 30-year-old local man at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, allegedly involved in a drug syndicate linked to the seizure of RM45 million in drugs at Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. Hussein Omar Khan, the deputy director of the Narcotics Investigation Department at Bukit Aman, stated that the suspect worked for different airlines.

Investigations revealed the second arrested flight attendant was accused of being involved in money laundering between the syndicate and another flight attendant. This brings the total number of local men arrested in connection with the case to seven, following the arrest of six suspects between August 20 and August 28. Four of the six suspects fled to Thailand and Vietnam, where they were arrested upon their return to Malaysia, while the remaining two were arrested in Klang and Pulau Pinang.

The Malaysian flight attendant was detained at Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on July 29 after arriving from Kuala Lumpur on flight MH727. Upon examination, 14 packages containing 70,114 ecstasy pills, weighing around 25kg, and 4g of hashish found in his carry-on luggage were seized, valued at an estimated RM45 million.

According to Indonesian police, the suspect claimed he was promised a payment of RM50,000 to bring the drugs to Jakarta, while another individual was taken away from a hotel.
