Korea Heritage Service to hold 'Heritage Week' themed around Korean food culture

On Tuesday, the Korea Heritage Service accepted 10 wearable robotic devices from Hyundai Motor Company at a donation ceremony. The event took place at the Haenggung-dong administrative welfare center and Hwaryeongjeon Shrine in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province. The devices, known as X-ble Shoulder exoskeletons, are unpowered wearable exoskeletons developed by Hyundai Motor and Kia's robotics lab. These devices aim to enhance the safety and efficiency of workers at regional heritage-care centers throughout the nation.

The X-ble Shoulder exoskeletons are specifically designed to support shoulder muscles during repetitive overhead tasks. They will be distributed to four regional heritage-care centers: two in Gyeonggi Province, one in northern North Gyeongsang Province, and one in western Jeonnam-Gwanju Special Metropolitan City. The Korea Heritage Service explained that these devices are expected to alleviate musculoskeletal strain and decrease the likelihood of workplace accidents for staff who frequently raise their arms while inspecting and maintaining heritage sites.

The regional heritage-care program is a standard, preventive maintenance initiative supported by Korea's lottery fund. Field workers regularly perform maintenance tasks on a variety of heritage sites across the country.
