Kings officially outbid Knicks, Warriors for $3.5 million three-time All-Star making NBA comeback

The Sacramento Kings have officially secured a three-time All-Star guard from the New York Knicks and Golden State Warriors in a short-term deal, according to HoopsHype's Michael Scotto. The 30-year-old star is making an NBA comeback after missing the 2015-16 season due to injury. If he makes the opening night roster, he will earn a $1 million salary.

The Kings have outbid both the Warriors and Knicks for the talented player, who has experienced a rollercoaster career with three All-Star nods and Rookie of the Year honors during his tenure with the Philadelphia 76ers. However, after a disappointing playoff performance in 2021, the 76ers traded him to the Brooklyn Nets in February 2022.

Despite the Nets' failed attempts to retain Simmons, he signed with the Los Angeles Clippers for the remainder of the 2024-25 season. With the Kings, who are focused on developing their young talent, in a developmental phase, it remains to be seen if Simmons can contribute to the team's second unit and prove his value in the NBA.
