‘It’s hell’: Father of Australian brothers killed in Mexico testifies in murder trial

KOTA BHARU, Sept 9 — Dr Ainul Baroah, a victim of the helicopter crash in Sarawak, returned to the state just two days ago, according to her father, Kamarudin Salleh. The 69-year-old father recounted that his daughter was a quiet, kind individual who always treated her family with warmth and readiness to lend a helping hand. Kamarudin shared that his daughter was in good spirits, smiling often and spending quality time with her cousins and extended family.

The family was notified of the unfortunate incident at 5 pm yesterday by one of Dr Ainul Baroah's in-laws. The retired teacher added that his daughter had been working at Miri Hospital for nearly two years and had provided medical assistance in Sarawak for a total of three years before her untimely demise.

Dr Ainul Baroah's mother, Rogayah Mohd Noor, 69, described her daughter as a kind and loving individual who never caused trouble for the family. She noted that her daughter seemed different upon her return home recently, with a radiant face and an unmistakable change in demeanor.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) confirmed via a statement that the BO-105 helicopter, carrying five individuals including the pilot, was involved in a Flying Doctor Service flight. The incident occurred near the Long Lellang Short Take-Off and Landing (STOL) airport, approximately 929 kilometers north of Kuching. The helicopter departed from Miri and was piloted by one individual, while a medical officer, an assistant medical officer, and two nurses were on board as part of their official duties.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad confirmed that the helicopter crash resulted in the loss of all five individuals aboard. Miri Division Resident and chairman of the Miri Division Disaster Management Committee, Galong Luang, further reported that the crash took place around 3:40 pm, claiming the lives of everyone on board.
