Israeli minister thanks UK’s Farage for support against sanctions

Israel's Foreign Minister Gideon Saar recently spoke with Nigel Farage, leader of Britain's Reform UK party, to express gratitude for his opposition to UK sanctions against Israeli settlements in the West Bank. Saar thanked Farage for his support at the Reform Friends of Israel event during the party's conference in Birmingham. Meanwhile, the UK Labour government announced a ban on imports from Israeli settlements, citing their alleged "ethnic cleansing" of Palestinians.

France and Canada also imposed trade curbs on Israeli settlements. Farage assured Saar that a Reform UK government would reverse the damage done to the UK-Israel relationship by the previous Labour administration. However, Farage raised the issue of the Falklands, Argentine-ruled islands in the South Atlantic, where President Javier Milei has increased his country's claims.

Saar emphasized the Falklands issue to Farage, highlighting its significance to the British people. Right-wing Israeli leaders, including National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, have suggested recognizing Argentine sovereignty over the Falklands as retaliation for British sanctions.
