Iran retaliates against Jordan and Saudi Arabia after U.S. destroys oil tankers

Iranian Revolutionary Guards announced on Wednesday that they had attacked two U.S. vessels and eight oil tankers in the Gulf, retaliating for a U.S. strike on five Iranian tankers. The Guards claimed they targeted 10 ships navigating what they called a "prohibited and unsafe" area of the Strait of Hormuz. On Tuesday, only six vessels passed through the Strait, down from nine the previous day and below the 10-day average of around 12, according to preliminary shipping data.
