‘INEC uploaded imposter as ADC guber candidate for Cross River’ – John Ogar

John Ogar, the factional chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Cross River State, has vehemently denounced the candidate of the party uploaded by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). In a recent statement, Ogar revealed that the announced candidate, Mrs Nkoyo Toyo, is actually an imposter. The ADC was already embroiled in a court battle over the parallel conduct of primary elections and the question of authentic leadership at both the national and state levels.

Ogar expressed his disappointment in Toyo, stating that she is associated with a "rogue faction" whose actions fundamentally contradict the principles and values that the ADC stands for. He emphasized that both the High Court and the Court of Appeal had decisively annulled the elections conducted by this faction, imposing substantial costs against them.

Ogar further warned that the faction had attempted to delay the case by seeking a stay of execution at the Court of Appeal and consistently changing dates to hamper the proceedings.

The ADC candidate in Ogar's camp, Dr Effiong Nyong, referred to the faction as the "Legacy Group." He revealed that apart from their judicial victories in the High Court and the Court of Appeal, they have also filed an appeal to the Supreme Court. Nyong expressed hope that the apex court's verdict would favor their faction and pave the way forward.

On the other hand, the group supporting Toyo have denied any wrongdoing, claiming that they have not surreptitiously obtained a stay of action court order. They assert that they have remained undistracted throughout the case.
