‘I don’t have any criminal history… want to know why notice was issued’: Gautam Buddha University second Year BA LLB student

Akshat Tripathi, a 20-year-old second-year BA LLB student at Gautam Buddha University, received a notice accusing him of spreading anti-government statements and provoking students at the university, which could disrupt public peace. Tripathi, who has no criminal history, denies the allegations and wants to know the basis for the notice.

He claims he was injured during a protest on July 20 and did not attend university since May 25 due to holidays and online classes. Tripathi, the secretary of the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) unit at Gautam Buddha University, filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court, stating that he was not informed of the substance of the allegations against him.

The Noida police stated that the notice was issued in connection with the protest demonstration and a bond of Rs 5 lakh for maintaining peace was sought.
