Here's What Apple Says About the iPhone Duo's Crease

Ahead of the upcoming launch of the foldable iPhone Duo, Apple addressed concerns about the crease between its dual displays. Foldable devices typically have a visible crease, which can become more noticeable over time due to repeated folding and unfolding. Apple's FAQ on the iPhone Duo product page asks whether the inner display shows a crease where it folds, to which Apple replies that the display is "wonderfully flat and smooth."

The iPhone Duo incorporates custom nano-texture finish technology on its inner display to reduce glare and reflections, resulting in an uninterrupted viewing experience. Optically clear adhesives allow the display layers to glide smoothly during folding, minimizing stress and crease formation. Apple claims that the Duo's nano-texture display is designed to minimize the visibility of the crease, creating a matte surface that feels great to touch.

While Apple did not specify a fold cycle count for the iPhone Duo, the company emphasized that its hinge offers "smooth, balanced resistance for long-lasting reliability." The hinge is described as having more than 100 components, with support ribs and a titanium panel under the display. In comparison, Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold8, a similar foldable device, is rated for 500,000 folds. The iPhone Duo is scheduled to launch on October 23, with pre-orders beginning on October 16.
