Gujarat doctor accused of acting as ‘link’ in 2018 MBBS exam scam gets bail

A 30-year-old Gujarat doctor, Kanu Chaudhary, has been granted bail by the Gujarat High Court after being accused of acting as a link in a 2018 MBBS exam scam. The court ruled that Chaudhary introduced three failed students to two other accused individuals, who allegedly altered examination answer sheets. The court noted that Chaudhary did not participate in the manipulation or exchange of the answer sheets himself.

The prosecution alleged that the students paid Rs 50,000 to have their answer sheets altered, allowing them to pass their MBBS examinations. However, the high court emphasized that Chaudhary had no prior criminal record and that the trial would take time to conclude. He was released on a personal bond of Rs 25,000 with a surety of the same amount and was directed to surrender his passport and report to the police station monthly for six months.
