Gender Ministry takes social protection dialogue to Chorkor, Mamprobi

The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, working with the Office of the Head of the Local Government Service, is holding a series of community dialogues on social protection and related issues in Chorkor and Mamprobi, part of the Ablekuma South Municipality. Minister Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey emphasized that social protection should be more than just government actions, becoming a vital part of local development.

The initiative aims to boost access to social protection programs for vulnerable individuals and households. The Ministry's partnership with the National Health Insurance Authority has helped register and renew benefits for eligible vulnerable and disabled persons under the NHIS. MP Okoe Vanderpuije praised the Ministry for directly engaging communities, as this allows for a better understanding of residents' challenges and the development of practical solutions.

The dialogue also covered topics like domestic violence, child marriage, teenage pregnancy, human trafficking, child protection, NHIS, and the LEAP reassessment exercise. During the event, residents of Chorkor and Mamprobi utilized the platform to ask questions, raise concerns, and share feedback regarding the delivery of social protection interventions in their communities.
