FSDA officials shut down hotel in Bengaluru citing hygiene issues

The Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) officials in Bengaluru conducted a raid on South Ruchi hotel on Race Course Road on September 9, following consumer complaints about poor food quality, unhygienic kitchens, and other concerns. The officials cited hygiene issues and mislabelling as the primary reasons for the inspection.

Several items were seized from the hotel, and the owner was ordered to shut down the kitchen until the FSDA inspectors could review the facility and ensure compliance with food safety standards. The FSDA had previously inspected and seized hundreds of kilograms of expired and mislabelled food products from various establishments, including seven star and five star hotels, e-commerce food supply stores, fast food units, club kitchens, and even medicines procured by e-commerce supply stores without proper licenses.
