Free SHS Secretariat official denies bribery allegations at Kumasi CSSPS Resolution centre

The Free Senior High School Secretariat has refuted allegations of bribery at the Placement Resolution Centre located at the Kumasi Technical Institute (KTI). These claims emerged after reports surfaced that certain individuals at the centre were soliciting money from parents prior to addressing their placement issues. Michael Owusu Baafi, the Deputy Ashanti Regional Coordinator for the secretariat, unequivocally dismissed these allegations.

He emphasized that the placement resolution process is entirely free and that no financial transactions are expected at the centre. Baafi urged parents and students to refrain from paying anyone who promises to assist in school placements or navigate issues related to the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS).

He warned that any monetary contributions made to individuals in this context could lead to unfavorable consequences. Furthermore, Baafi clarified that while students might need to print their placement forms and other related documents, this is not a mandatory requirement and no fees are imposed at the resolution tables. He underscored that the centre's officials go above and beyond their designated responsibilities by utilizing their personal resources and data to establish direct placements for students.

Baafi also highlighted that the officials incur their own expenses, including the printing and forwarding of placement sheets to schools, to facilitate these direct placements, thereby ensuring that parents are not required to bear any costs.
