FM Dar, Egyptian counterpart discuss regional coordination through R4

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar of Pakistan, along with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, held discussions on September 9, 2026, to strengthen regional coordination. The two ministers spoke late on Tuesday night and emphasized the importance of close consultations on regional matters, including through the Regional Four (R4) Foreign Ministers, in collaboration with Saudi Arabia and Turkey.

Both nations reaffirmed their strong and fraternal ties. The R4 framework, launched earlier this year, focuses on intensifying consultations on regional crises, particularly the US-Iran conflict and broader efforts to promote stability. This latest meeting took place in Amman on August 5, coinciding with the signing of the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey.

Although Egypt did not officially sign the agreement, its potential participation in the R-4 framework is being assessed during the upcoming talks, which will also address the evolving security situation in the Middle East and ways to strengthen political and diplomatic coordination among the four nations.
