Dubai gears up for busy event season with packed year-end calendar

Dubai is gearing up for a busy event season, with a packed year-end calendar featuring more than 100 exhibitions across the last four months. Authorities are optimistic, kicking off the events with the travel trade show next week. The calendar remains full through December, when 200,000 technology executives from over 180 countries are expected to attend Gitex Global.

Major shows, including the Arabian Travel Market and Gitex, were postponed and rescheduled due to the Iran-US conflict. Events will be held at both the Dubai Exhibition Centre at Expo City and the older Dubai World Trade Centre halls to accommodate the extensive programming. Mahir Julfar, executive vice president of DWTC, stated that the healthy pipeline of events demonstrates Dubai's safety, accessibility, and readiness to welcome business.

Organizers worked closely with authorities during the postponement of major exhibitions, and exhibitors showed little hesitation despite challenges with direct flights. Inquiries have picked up, with early signals of shifting sentiment from events like Jpex and a humanitarian event that drew 21,000 visitors. Long-term vision includes expanding the Dubai Exhibition Centre to become the largest indoor venue in the Mena region by 2031, despite logistical challenges from the war.
