Does Mississippi State softball play Ole Miss in 2027? SEC schedules revealed

The SEC schedule for Mississippi State and Ole Miss softball for the 2027 season was unveiled on September 9. The two fierce rivals will not face each other in an SEC series for the first time since 2023. Mississippi State's Bulldogs will kick off their SEC play on the road against Missouri from March 12-14. Meanwhile, Ole Miss Rebels will begin their conference play that same weekend at home versus Auburn.

Mississippi State's SEC schedule includes a rematch of the Norman Super Regional against Oklahoma, and a series against two-time defending NCAA champion Texas. They will host Oklahoma from April 16-18 and travel to Texas from April 30-May 2. Mississippi State's 2026 season concluded with a 43-21 record, securing their first trip to the Women's College World Series.

They lost both games in Oklahoma City, falling to Texas Tech and Texas. However, their upset of Oklahoma in the super regionals helped them reach the national stage. Key players returning for Mississippi State are senior star pitcher Alyssa Faircloth, who earned SEC Newcomer of the Year honors, and outfielder Tatum Silva. Freshmen infielders Xiane Romero and Morgan Stiles also rejoin the team.

Ole Miss finished the 2026 season with a 36-26 record, making it to the finals of the Lubbock Regional where they lost to national runner-up Texas Tech. Returning players include Madi George and Persy Llamas, both All-SEC second team selections. Mississippi State will begin their fall season with eight games, starting with the Maron & White Scrimmage on September 25.

Ole Miss' fall schedule starts on October 9 against Jacksonville State. The Bulldogs and Rebels are also scheduled to play a doubleheader in Starkville on October 25.
