Delhi building collapse LIVE: Demolition of structure next to collapsed PG begins; contractor held in Satya Niketan

The Delhi Police investigation into the Satya Niketan building collapse has shifted with two new individuals implicated in the property's operation as a paying guest (PG) accommodation. According to police, Mahesh Bansal, the son of property owner Hariram Bansal, revealed during questioning that the building was leased to Shubham Tyagi and Sudhanshu in August 2025, reports News18.

The pair allegedly ran the property under the name 'Hostel Daze'. Police confirmed the arrest of Sudhanshu, while further investigation into the tragedy continues. The five-storey building, located near Delhi University's South Campus, collapsed on Sunday while undergoing repair work, resulting in seven deaths and five injuries.

The structure, reportedly decades old with a history of water seepage in the basement, lacked columns and beams, sparking concerns over its safety. The police have already apprehended Hariram and Mahesh Gupta, along with their 75-year-old mother Urmila, who were previously thought to be the owners, but were later identified as the property's actual owners through documents.

With Sudhanshu's arrest, the probe now shifts focus to the individuals managing the PG. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has also suspended four engineers from South Zone pending further action.
