Carlos Alcaraz eliminated by Ben Shelton in latest finish in US Open history

Aryna Sabalenka and Linda Noskova will clash in the US Open quarterfinals following their impressive fourth-round victories. Sabalenka defeated American Taylor Townsend in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3, while Noskova secured her win against Ukraine's Marta Kostyuk after three sets, six match points. Local favorites Jessica Pegula and Emma Navarro are still battling in the fourth round.

The defending champion will face Wimbledon winner Noskova in the next round, after both secured their spot with confident wins. World number one Sabalenka praised the mental strength and confidence gained from overcoming challenging matches, particularly her encounter with the unconventional doubles player. Sixth seed Noskova showcased her mettle by defeating Marta Kostyuk, ending her remarkable season with a maiden grand slam title at Wimbledon.

The victory over Kostyuk was her second straight at the slams, following their semifinal clash at Wimbledon. Pegula and Navarro will face each other in the final match of the night on Ashe.
