BP España sale de pérdidas y gana 223 millones de euros

BP España turned a loss into a profit, posting a net gain of 223 million euros in the previous fiscal year, a stark contrast to the losses of 81.1 million the year before. The company, which includes refinery, solar, fuel, and gas supply operations, reported a revenue of 9.103 billion euros in 2025, marking a 7.9% increase, according to consolidated accounts.

The workforce stood at an average of 1,285 employees, including the entire Spanish operation. The 2025 report reveals that BP reduced revenue in its oil products segment, falling from 7.367 to 6.975 billion euros, a 5.3% decline compared to 2024. Conversely, natural gas revenue doubled to 1.944 billion euros, up from 933 million in the previous year.

Market segmentation saw Spain gaining ground, with revenue growing from 5.422 to 6.941 billion euros, while international sales dropped from 3.013 to 2.162 billion euros. Spain's largest asset, the Castellón refinery, can process 110,000 barrels of crude daily, equivalent to six million tons annually. However, the Production and Operations business saw a revenue decline and increased losses, with a loss of 2.810 million euros, up from 2.556 million the previous year.

BP España is also developing its future green hydrogen plant through a collaboration with Iberdrola, using a 75 million euro investment to build a 25 MW green hydrogen plant in Castellón. Expected to start producing green hydrogen before the end of the year, it aims to become the largest operational green hydrogen facility in Spain, with plans to expand to 200 megawatts.

The green hydrogen plant will also supply sectors with difficult decarbonization, such as ceramics and chemicals, which have a strong presence in Castellón. The project receives significant financial support, with the IDAE approving 211 million euros for Castellón and 15 million euros from innovative hydrogen and renewable knowledge programs in Spain's recovery, transformation, and resilience plan.
