Audio-Technica just launched its first wireless open-back headphones with an affordable price-tag and 'noise reduction', and I must try them

Audio-Technica has introduced its inaugural wireless open-back headphones, the ATH-AL5NC, offering an accessible price point and active noise reduction. This marks the company's first attempt at wireless open-back headphones, demonstrating their expertise in crafting high-quality open-back models. The ATH-AL5NC boasts 53mm drivers, designed to deliver detailed and expansive sound, along with open housings that enhance airflow and lower ear temperatures.

Weighing just 240g (compared to Sony's WH-1000XM6 at 254g), these headphones are comfortable for extended use, whether for music, work, or gaming. Notably, despite their open-back design, the ATH-AL5NC also include sound leakage reduction and active noise reduction, which can be utilized in both wireless and wired modes to minimize distractions.

Battery life extends to up to 75 hours, or 50 hours with noise reduction enabled, with a quick 15-minute charge offering up to eight hours of playback. Additional features include high-resolution audio support (24-bit/96 kHz), LDAC, multipoint connectivity, a low-latency gaming mode, an integrated microphone for calls and meetings, customizable EQ, and Soundscape modes through the A-T Connect app.

Priced at £219 ($299 or AU$410), the ATH-AL5NC represent a compelling option in the open-back headphone market, offering advanced features typically found in higher-priced models. Availability began on September 9th.
