Atiku condemns attack on Peter Obi in Benue

The African Democratic Congress presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has strongly condemned the violent attack on the presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress, Peter Obi, in Benue State. According to the DAILY POST, suspected thugs allegedly prevented Obi from entering the state to conduct a humanitarian outreach in Yelwata on Tuesday.

The Benue State Government denied any involvement in the incident, stating they were unaware of Obi's visit. In response, Atiku's spokesperson, Kenneth Okonkwo, denounced the attack as unacceptable, describing it as anti-democratic and deeply shameful. He emphasized that Obi was brutally denied the opportunity to offer condolences to bereaved families affected by the terrorist attacks in Yelwata.

Atiku called on relevant authorities to thoroughly investigate the incident, hold the perpetrators accountable, and ensure the safety and freedom of political leaders to perform their duties without intimidation.
