Apple’s revamped Health app will calculate your ‘health age’ and readiness score

Apple unveiled an updated version of its Health app, designed to work with the recently released Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4, and enhanced by Apple Intelligence. The improvements include a new Insights tab, which provides a summary of critical health information, personalized advice, and assessments. Among the key additions is a "Health Age" calculation, which compares your various health metrics to your actual age, taking into account factors like VO2 max, sleep patterns, and biomarkers from blood tests.

This metric, along with a new "readiness" score, offers a broader understanding of overall health and wellness.

The Health app also features a longevity tab, which utilizes data from the Apple Watch and iPhone to evaluate health across sleep, movement, heart health, and other aspects. Users can incorporate lab results into this guidance, with Apple partnering with Quest to offer a 50-biomarker panel for $119, providing quick access to comprehensive lab data.

With Apple Intelligence at the core, the Health app has been refined to better interpret various health data points. For example, it can recommend adjustments to exercise routines, such as incorporating interval training to enhance cardio health. The app also delves deeper into areas like fitness and heart health, offering in-depth assessments of body movements to assist individuals who are aging or recovering from injuries.

Trainers can guide users through specific exercises, creating a personalized coaching experience akin to having a professional trainer present. The updated Health app is set to launch later this year, initially available in the U.S. with English language support.
