Agriculture Minister rules out scrapping fertiliser booking app

Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao has firmly ruled out scrapping the app-based system for fertiliser distribution in Telangana. The minister clarified that the system was introduced to ensure proper distribution of fertilisers like urea to genuine farmers, preventing diversion, hoarding, and black marketing. Technical issues faced during implementation are being addressed, and steps are being taken to make the system simpler and more efficient for farmers.

The Union government's Framework for Fertiliser Sale (FFS) app, introduced on June 4, 2026, has been implemented across Telangana since September 2, replacing the State's earlier app for selling subsidised fertilisers. Over 50 lakh farmers have already purchased fertilisers through the app. The minister assured the Legislative Council that there is currently no shortage of urea in Telangana and that fertiliser stocks have increased from around 16-17 lakh metric tonnes to 22-23 lakh metric tonnes since the current government took office.
