Adam Schiff Is Shocked to ‘Strongly’ Agree With Trump on Film Tax Credit: ‘Never Used Those Words Before’

Sen. Adam Schiff is astonished to find common ground with President Donald Trump on the issue of the film tax credit. During a discussion with CNN's Elex Michaelson, the California Senator mentioned his recent social media statement, where he expressed "strong agreement" with Trump's backing of the federal film tax credit. Schiff admitted, "I've never used those words before, but look, when I took this office, I said I'm going to try to get things done, and I'm going to try to fight any corruption, any attack on our democracy."

Schiff explained that this issue is one he can support, even if it's President Trump, as it's a good idea. He added, "In fact, I fully support this. As you know, I've been working for a federal tax credit for the film and television industry to bring these jobs back to California. And now I think we are very close to making that happen."

Earlier this summer, entertainment industry lobbyists, including the Motion Picture Association and the Entertainment Union Coalition, had been working with lawmakers to build bipartisan support for a federal tax incentive. This would complement the incentives provided by numerous states and make them more competitive against other countries.

Sen. Schiff is not the only one supporting Trump's push for the tax credit; the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IATSE) also welcomed the president's endorsement, recognizing it as a policy their union has long advocated for. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass also commended Trump's call for a federal production tax incentive, deeming it a "positive step forward."
