A tale of two medicines: why India should replace ‘general medicine’ with ‘internal medicine’
The term ‘general’ is misleading and can be confusing for patients who may think an internist is the same as a general or family medicine practitioner. It is also out of sync with international nomenclature. It is high time India modifies this terminology to the more widely recognised and accepted, ‘internal’ medicine
